The winner of each class to go forward to the final to be held at the NPS Championship Show at Malvern in August.   A pony may only qualify once, where the winner in the class has already qualified the pony standing next in line which has not qualified will be deemed the qualifier.  Qualification may go no lower than third place.  Open to ponies which are either stabled at home or in a DIY yard and which since 1 January 2007 have not been shown by a professional producer or stabled in a professional producer’s yard other than on a DIY basis.  To be owned and produced and handled by an Amateur who does not derive income from professional showing of ponies or horses.  Please enter this class in the spirit it is intended.

 

Qualifying rounds are open to both NPS Members of the NPS and Non Members BUT ONLY the highest placed NPS ADULT MEMBER (Standard or Showing) on production of their membership card in the ring ,will be eligible to qualify for the Final.  NPS Adult/Standard members will be required to upgrade to Adult/Showing to enter the Final.   Qualification to go no lower than third place.   Qualified Ponies must be entered into the NPS Competition Final within 14 days for the pony to be eligible to appear in the Final.

NPS Mountain & Moorland In Hand Kilmannan Stud Silver Medal Rosette Championship (excl Part-Breds)

To be judged under the rules of the NPS 

The exhibitor must be an adult/standard member of the NPS

 

A Silver Medal Rosette is offered by the NPS for the best registered pony in the Mountain & Moorland In Hand Section.  Exhibited by an adult/standard member of the NPS.  (Champion or Reserve only).  Membership card to be produced in the ring.  This section to be run under NPS rules.  If the Champion pony has already qualified, the Reserve, on production in the ring of their Membership card, will receive the qualifying card and Sponsor’s rosette.  Qualification to go no lower than Reserve Champion.  Qualifiers are entitled to compete in the NPS Mountain & Moorland In Hand Kilmannan Stud Championship to be held at the NPS Summer Championship Show in Malvern.  The relevant entry fee and the qualification card must be sent to the NPS Secretariat, Willingdon House, 7 The Windmills, St Mary’s Close, Turk Street, Alton, Hampshire GU34 1EF.  Qualifiers may only compete in one Kilmannan final.

Class 27   :    Dales, Fells, Highland, New Forest, Connemara, Welsh Section C mares or geldings four years old and over, not exceeding 138 cm (13.2 hh).  Riders must not have attained their 18th birthday before the 1st January in the current year.

 

Class 28   : Dales, Fells, Highland, New Forest, Connemara, and Welsh Section D mares or geldings four years old and over, to exceed 138 cm (13.2 hh).  Riders must not have attained their 18th birthday before the 1st January in the current year.

Class 52   :     PLEASURE DRIVING (This class may be split if entries permit)  Pleasure Driving classes are for newcomers to showing and not intended for those who show in private driving classes.  Regular showing competitors are asked to respect this and entries for the pleasure driving class will not be accepted from those who enter our private driving classes. 

To be judged:  15% vehicle suitability, fit and cleanliness;  15% harness suitability, fit and cleanliness;  70%  driver & groom, horse/pony, way of going and suitability as a family pleasure animal.  Competitors may be required to drive and halt between two pairs of cones and execute a U-turn in their individual show.

CLASS 54:  PRIVATE DRIVING including 2007 OSBORNE REFRIGERATORS BDS YOUNG DRIVERS QUALIFIERS

Private Driving Classes for horses and ponies any height, 4 years old or over, to be driven single, Pair or tandem to a suitable vehicle (commercial vehicles and hackney show wagons not permitted) Championships.   For the Young Drivers qualifiers, the highest placed turnout owned and driven by a member of the BDS and eligible for the following type-sections disregarding those already qualified down to 6th place in the class will qualify for the 2007 Semi-Finals.  The Championship will immediately follow the Semi-Finals.   A driver under the age of 16 yrs to be accompanied in the vehicle by a competent and responsible person aged 18 yrs or over.   Proof of age will be required if necessary.

 

      o - Single turnout driven to a traditional type vehicle by a young driver aged 10-14 yrs

p – Single turnout driven to a traditional type vehicle by a young driver aged 15-17 yrs

q – Single turnout driven to an exercise vehicle by a young driver aged 10-14 yrs

r – Single turnout driven to an exercise vehicle by a young driver aged 15-17 years

The Champion will qualify for the Grand Final to be held on Sunday 23 September 2007at the Welsh Showtime Finale, David Broome Event Centre, Crick, Nr Chepstow.  In the event that the Champion has already qualified then the Reserve Champion to qualify. 

 

Class 55:  OSBORNE REFRIGERATORS BDS CHAMPIONSHIP – WELSH CLASS

These classes are qualifiers for the 2007 Osborne Refrigerators BDS National Championships. South West Pony Association 2007 Championships

New Rules for 2007

On gaining qualification for 2007 Championships, you will be awarded a qualification card in the normal way.   This card MUST be completed in FULL and returned within 14 DAYS of the qualifying show.   ALL Owners, Exhibitors and Riders (if not a family member) MUST become Members.   You will then be sent a new set of 'competition record cards' for the pony/horse.  These are to be signed by a judge or steward during the season as your pony qualifies for other championship classes.  Having received your set of competition record cards you MUST NOT accept another qualification card for the same pony/horse. (failure to comply with this rule may invalidate all qualifications for the pony/horse)

The 2007 Championships will be held on Friday, Saturday & Sunday 31 August, 1/2 September 2007 at the David Broome Event Centre, Crick, Gwent, South Wales. NP26 5XP

RULES

1.   The Organisers and Show’s officers, servants or agents shall not be in

any way responsible or accountable for any loss, injury or damage from any cause or circumstances whatever to exhibitors or their servants or agents or other members of the public, to any animal or property or vehicle or otherwise for anything else in conjunction with or arising out of or attributable to the Show.

2.   The decision of the Judge is final and the Organisers reserve the right to amend the Judge’s Panel if it should become necessary.

  1. Any protest shall be lodged in writing with the Show Secretary within half an hour of the incident together with a deposit of £10.  If the protest is not upheld, the deposit will be forfeited to the funds of the Show.
  2. With the exception of the driving classes and Part-Bred classes, all entries must be entered in the main Stud Book for their respective breeds.  Part-Bred ponies must be registered.  All Stud Book registration numbers must be given on all entry forms.
  3. Correctly fastened Skull Caps (plain navy or black covers) or Hard hats must be worn in all ridden classes and by handlers aged 14 yrs and under in in-hand classes, conforming to PAS 015 or EN 1384 or any superceding standard.  Spurs are not permitted.
  4. NO MANES OR TAILS TO BE PLAITED IN ANY M&M CLASS – IT IS OPTIONAL FOR PART BREDS.
  5. NO nominations or substitutions will be permitted.
  6. Stallion licences in accordance with breed requirements.
  7. The Show Committee recommend that competitors have adequate third party insurance.
  8. Competitors entering classes which may clash do so at their own risk, no entry fees will be refunded.
  9. National Pony Society rules regarding age of Handlers/Riders of Stallions apply.
