2021 SWA Young Judges Competition

 If you would like to take part anyway, for example, if you are outside the age range (either older or younger!) or do not want to be considered as a member of the SWA team but would like to come along, you are welcome to attend but we would like to know for catering numbers.

SWA Stud Competition 2021

Organiser:   Mrs Anne Brice, Orchard Cottage, Fore Street, Milverton, Taunton, Somerset, TA4 1JU 

The competition is usually held at the beginning of September.   The panel judge actually judges the ponies & cobs at the stud.  There are marks for type, movement and conformation.  PLEASE SUPPORT the competition which is one of the SWA’s oldest competitions.

Young Handler of the Year 2021

Open to SWA members between the ages of 7 and 16 years of age.

Classes for Young Handlers  are held at all SWA Shows.  The highest placed SWA of WPCS member in those classes qualify for the SWA Young Handler of the Year final which will be held TBC.   The Young Handler must produce their Membership badge in the ring to qualify.

YOUNG HANDLERS will be judged on style, turnout and manners. The pony/cob shown need not be registered in the Welsh Stud Book.  NO COLTS OR STALLIONS ALLOWED.

WPCS BRONZE MEDALS, Qualifiers for NATIONAL WELSH & WELSH PART BRED CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW, NPS and SOUTH WEST PONY ASSOCIATION – In hand, Ridden & WHP.  Young handler classes.

As the 2020 Show had to be cancelled due to the Covid-19 restrictions all the judges have very kindly agreed to judge the Show in 2021.  The classes remain the same. 

Important notice  – do not use SATNAV otherwise you might become stuck in narrow twisty lanes!!   Follow these directions – From the A38 take the A379 Dawlish road at the “Wobbly Wheel roundabout”,  follow the brown Powderham Castle signs but continue past the Castle and through Starcross.  At Cockwood by the harbour turn immediately right and take the first left opposite the golf course.  Continue on this fairly straight road for about 1.5 miles and the show field will be on your left.    

WPCS Bronze Medals for all Sections including Welsh Part Breeds, with qualifiers for NPS for Welsh breeds and Welsh Part-Breds, the National Welsh  Championship Show & and South West Ponies Association Championship qualifiers PLUS young handler classes.
