2018 SUBSCRIPTIONS ARE DUE ON 1 JANUARY.  AT the 2017 AGM a resolution was passed to increase the subscriptions to £15.00 for a full member plus £3 for each family member.  Remember that to take advantage of reduced rates for SWA show entry fees you must be a fully paid up member before you enter the show and renew your membership before 31 March or if you are new member have paid your subscription before entering.  DO NOT LEAVE UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE TO PAY YOUR SUBSCRIPTION AT THE SHOW.    For a Bankers order form please CLICK HERE. WPCS AGM 2019: Please note that the AGM next year will be held a week earlier that in previous years on 30 March 2019 at the Crowne Plaze Hotel, Glasgow.

WPCS 2018 REGISTRATIONS - The Society has just announced that under new DEFRA regulations all registration forms must be received by the Society by 30 November 2018.


In Hand and Performance Competitions and Young Adult In Hand Points Competition.  Please send in your 2017/18 completed forms for these competitions as soon as you can after 30 October to the relevant organiser.

Sunday 18 November - SWA WPCS Bronze Medal & Ridden Show for Welsh & Non Welsh.  Also the final will be held for the SWA Young Handler of the Year 2018.  Secretary: Mrs Judy Pring, Lane End Cottage, North Lane, Sampford Arundel, Wellington, Somerset TA 9QZ.  The schedule was sent out with the Autumn Newsletter a copy is available to download on the from Show schedule page.

PLEASE BRING ANY ITEMS FOR THE GRAND AUCTION TO THE AGM so that they can be included in the Auction catalogue and on our seperate Grand Auction FaceBook page.

Sunday 24 November - Grand Auction in Aid of SWA, 6pm Cedar Suite, Gipsy Hill Hotel, Gipsy Hill Lane, Monkerton, Exeter EX1 3RN  Any donations - need not be horsey! - will be gratefully received.  A reply slip was enclosed with the Summer Newsletter but you can also contact any committee member.  There is a seperate Facebook page with some of the items to be auctioned listed.  If you have anything you would like to donate please let us know well in advance as we plan to have a cataloque of the items.   Final details will be in the Autumn newsletter.

Saturday 3 November - Annual General Meeting, 2pm Garden Room, Gipsy Hill Hotel, Gopsy Hill Lane, Monkerton, Exeter EX1 3RN  Guest Speaker: Mrs Elizabeth Russell, Gartconnel Stud, President of the Welsh Pony & Cob Society.  After the AGM meeting our current WPCS President gave a very interesting talk and powerpoint presentation not only about the main society but also about the history of Elizabeth's and her late husband's Section A Stud - The Gartconnel Stud.  Elizabeth finished her talk by telling us about her experiences  judging at the first Show of the Welsh Pony & Cob Society of Africa held in South Africa.

13 - 16 September Annual Stud Visit - North Wales.  We havd a very enjoyable few days visiting Welsh Pony & Cob Studs in North Wales.  We saw some lovely ponies at every stud - Danash, Newgap, Islyn, Arad, Eyarth, Hilin Degla and Ryhd-y-Felin.  A full report will be included in the Autumn Newsletter.  Some photos will be posted onto our Facebook page later.  Very many thanks to all the studowners not only for showing us some wonderful ponies but also providing us with delicious sanwiches, cakes etc and refreshments!

Sunday 19 August 2018 Kernow Bronze Medal Show, Chiverton Equestrian Centre, Silverwell, Blackwater, Nr Truro TR4 7QN.   Another successful Show.  Many thanks to Maxine Ingham for organising this show and to the judges, stewards and helpers. This book was launched at the Royal Welsh on Tuesday 21 July 2016.  RRP £12.99  The SWA have signed copies of the book on sale at £11.50, a lower price than the RRP in their shop.   PLEASE BUY THIS BOOK THROUGH THE SWA as we will receive a small discount.

SWA NEWSLETTER  The South West Association of the Welsh Pony and Cob Society is looking for interesting stories, news, photos (own copyright ) etc  for there  newsletters. Will members wishing to contribute please send items of interest to


          This is an appeal for anyone who has ever won a SWA cup or trophy to look and see if they have still got it, we are missing a few cups and in spite of the signed receipts accepting full responsibility whilst in their care, people deny still having them.   Before going to the expense of replacing these missing cups, we would ask everyone to check extra carefully.   If you find you do have one of the SWA’s cups please return it to a committee member or the relevant show secretary.   We intend to start a list of people who have not returned cups and they will not be allowed to take any in the future and we may publish in the Spring Newsletter a list of those cups for which we have receipts but which the people who signed for them deny having.    PLEASE CONTACT  Hon.
